About Ms. Maxson
Prior to returning to Analy High School in 2012, Ms. Maxson taught at the high school and college levels. She has taught all levels of English including AP Lang/Comp, AP Literature as well as world history, humanities, creative writing, yearbook and debate at Analy High, Maria Carrillo High School, and St. Helena High School. She proposed AP Psychology and the AP Capstone Program to West Sonoma Couthy UHSD and is currently teach both.
Ms. Maxson possesses two BAs: English and Psychology. In 2002, she received her Master of Arts, English from the prestigious Bread Loaf School of English, Middlebury College. In 2005, Ms. Maxson returned to graduate school and finished her Ph'D coursework in Language and Literacy Education at the University of Georgia. At the University of Georgia and CSU East Bay, she trained pre-service teachers. Additionally, she has taught English courses at Napa Valley College and is an adjunct professor at Santa Rosa Junior College.
Hands-on activities and writing are the centerpieces of her instruction.
